The Second National Bank [in Philadelphia's historic district] has mostly portraits on display. George Read is one of them. He is an ancestor of mine. Someone took a photo of me standing beside the painting of him. Yes, there is a similarity, but I have no idea where the photo is.
Additional information upon research:
George Read's life included being an Attorney General, Assemblyman, continental Congressman, Delegate for Delaware, State President of Delaware, Councilman, U.S. Senator and Chief Justice. My personal highlight to his life was that when Congress voted for American Independence on July 2, 1776, Read surprise many by voting against it. This meant Caesar Rodney had to ride overnight to Philadelphia to break the deadlock in Delaware's delegation in favor of Independence. Once it did pass, Read signed the Declaration of Independence.
